SriLankanRailways.com is a passion project built by Sri Lankans, for Sri Lankan railfans. We are a grassroots community of enthusiasts, historians, photographers, commuters, and storytellers who share a common love for the trains and railways that have been a lifeline across our island for generations. This is not an official government website. It’s a fan-made hub where the history, present, and future of Sri Lankan rail travel meet.

Our Story

What started as casual conversations among friends and fellow train lovers grew into a collective effort to document, celebrate, and preserve the unique heritage of Sri Lanka’s railways. From the steam-era stories to today’s daily commuters, every train has a story, and every route carries memories. We created this space to give those stories a home, to connect like-minded people, and to make information about our railway system accessible and engaging.
